Sandra Annette Bullock is an American actress and producer, was born on July 26, 1964 in Arlington, Virginia. Her mother, Helga D. Meyer (1942–2000), a German opera singer and voice teacher, and John W. Bullock, a voice coach and executive from Alabama. Bullock has a sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado. Sandra Bullock is fluent in German. As a child, Bullock frequently traveled with her mother on her opera tours and she sang in the opera's children's choir at the Staatstheater Nürnberg.
In 1982, she graduated from Washington-Lee High School and enrolled in East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. In 1986, She left East Carolina during her senior year to pursue a career in acting. She moved to New York to pursue auditions and took acting classes with Sanford Meisner. Bullock later completed her coursework at East Carolina University. She later landed a role in an Off-Broadway play No Time Flat and was offered a part in the TV movie Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman (1989).
Bullock has starred in several films such as Hangmen (1987), The Preppie Murder (1989), Lucky/Chances (1990), Love Potion No. 9 (1992), The Vanishing (1993), Speed (1994), While You Were Sleeping (1995), A Time to Kill (1996), Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997), Hope Floats (1998), Practical Magic (1998), Forces of Nature (1999), Miss Congeniality (2000), Murder by Numbers (2002), Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous (2005), The Lake House (2006), Premonition (2007), and The Blind Side (2009) among others.
Sandra Bullock was awarded a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, and the Academy Award for Best Actress, for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side. In 2007, Bullock was ranked as the 14th richest female celebrity with an estimated fortune of $85 million. Bullock runs her own production company, Fortis Films and her father, John Bullock, is the company's CEO. Bullock owns an Austin, Texas restaurant, Bess Bistro and another business called Walton's Fancy and Staple, which is a bakery and floral shop.
Sandra Bullock has donated $1 million twice, first to its Liberty Disaster Relief Fund and four years later to the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunamis. In 2010, she donated $1 million to relief efforts in Haiti following the Haiti earthquake.
Sandra Bullock has been romantically involved with actor Tate Donovan, football player Troy Aikman, musician Bob Schneider, actor Matthew McConaughey and actor Ryan Gosling. On July 16, 2005, Bullock married Jesse James, motorcycle builder and Monster Garage host, but divorced on June 28, 2010. On April 28, 2010, Bullock announced that she had proceeded with plans to adopt a baby boy born in New Orleans, Louis Bardo Bullock, who began living with Bullock in January 2010.
